About Matt
Matt Jolley is a national Edward R. Murrow Award-winning feature reporter, broadcaster and writer who has spent his career telling stories about people, places and the things that make us look up.
Matt grew up around airshows, but learned his professional craft in television and radio. That career eventually brought two lifelong interests together: broadcasting and aviation. Today, he entertains audiences around the world, including two million people along Huntington Beach at Pacific Airshow—the world’s premier airshow—as well as audiences at New York’s historic Jones Beach Air Show and MCAS Miramar’s America’s Airshow, where he has been entrusted with the microphone for more than a decade.
His work extends well beyond the flightline. Matt founded WarbirdRadio.com and co-created SHOW CENTER: The Airshow Podcast, winner of the International Council of Air Shows Platinum Pinnacle Award. He appeared throughout Netflix’s Air Force Elite – Thunderbirds and co-hosted the Pacific Airshow broadcast on Hulu, which became the platform’s #1 live-streamed event for two consecutive years. He also hosts the U.S. Air Force Historical Foundation’s Know the Past – Shape the Future podcast, and his voice can be heard guiding new pilots through Sporty’s Learn to Fly courses.
But airplanes are only part of the story.
That same curiosity drives Matt’s writing, where he explores aviation, history, Southern culture and the ordinary people whose stories are often anything but ordinary.
These days, Matt calls a small town in rural northern Alabama home with his wife and son. He’s still a pilot, still loves old airplanes, and still believes we could all stand to look up a little more often.
